Skyclad has what is often known as a "Pilgrimage" genetic pattern. This pattern was first obvious about fifty years ago with most of Star Kingdom's good runners. It has come back into prominence of recent years with the proliferation of line of Selene who is inbred to Pilgrimage. Modern day breed shaper Redoute's Choice and his son Snitzel are present day examples of it.
Pilgrimage is by the Palmer, and Selene is also inbred to the Palmer (Twice through Pilgrimage) and his full brother, Rosicrucian. These names are relatively common in today's pedigrees but the key to them is not so common. It can be the presence of either Chaplet or Pellegrino, Chaplet is the full sister to The Palmer and Rosicrucian and Pellegrino is the full brother to Pilgrimage.
Skyclad's dam Loulou within 13 generations has 91 lines of Pilgrimage and 51 of Rosicrucian. She also has 2 lines of Chaplet; through Pardal and Emperor.
Skyclad's sire Snitzel within 13 generations has 94 lines of Pilgrimage, 37 of Rosicrucian. He also has 3 lines of Chaplet through a double of Lunchtime, the third through New Providence.
